Gotta love mood swings

Today hasn’t been so bad so far. Ok, well I had a mini break down earlier, but I know that my moods don’t last long. So now I’m Okay-dokay..LOL. I’ve got to hurry and do this before said mood disappears and I’m ready to hang someone again.

I was reading:yet again:about how a Pagan should represent themselves and the community when they appear in the media. The conversation centered around the guy who was on “The Daily Show” in all kinds of crazy “witchy” (read: Halloween get-up) attire. He had pitch black hair, long black fingernails, bad eyeliner, and huge:.HUGE pentacles dangling from all over. Of course, he was dressed all in black, too, and looked like he hadn’t been out in daylight in probably 10 years. Forget the fact that this guy was on “The Daily Show” to begin with and somehow thought he was being taken seriously (HA HA HA HA HA). He wanted to represent his version of witchcraft and, therefore, paganism. Was he wrong for not toning down his look a little bit?

I think, no. Not in that particular venue. That show is too flippin’ funny to be taken seriously by anyone. On other, more serious shows? Hell yes. He looks like some kind of freak and I don’t want some guy like that coming to represent me to anyone. When I say “I’m Pagan” to anyone they look at me like “Huh? You don’t look like a Pagan.” Because they think Pagans are supposed to look like this guy on television. They can’t look “normal” like me. NOTE: I look normal, but we all know the truth *sigh* The sad fact is that Pagans are stereotyped to look like this guy. People in general America (the ones that live on College campuses and in Salem, Mass.) look at these images and see something that is bad and maybe should be stamped out. They don’t want their kids joining up with something like that. This is why a lot of witch/Pagan groups won’t allow underage folk into the mix. They’re afraid of the backlash from the misinformed parents. This is why Pagans in towns like mine must fight to hold onto their kids when they’ve come out of the broom closet. Public perception is Paganism=blood sacrifice=ritual sex=devil (Christian version)worship=dancing with dead bodies=BAD. And they look at guys like the one mentioned above to validate their misconceptions. They think our rituals are bad and our beliefs stupid. They don’t even take the time to find out for themselves. Note to those who live in more tolerant areas: don’t move here! And so we have to fight to be taken seriously. It’s never ending.

I think that these people who want to be in the spotlight should show some responsibility. I think they should remember that most people in this country take what they see on t.v. as fact for the whole demographic (sterotypes of blacks and latinos, for example). Most of the populous is not so well informed. They sit around with their little cronies, spread venom and lies and say “I told you, Vern. Look at that freak show on t.v.” I think that the whole “let so-and-so just be who he is and to hell with the rest of them” is a bunch of bullshit. If it’s too hell with the rest of them, then keep your happy ass off of t.v. and out of the newspaper. Get with the program. In my opinion these characters are out for personal attention. They don’t care about anyone else. And they’re the first ones to cry “I’m being persecuted for my religious beliefs!! How come they don’t like me?” I think that anyone who goes out of the way to shock the general population (and takes pride in that) should just accept whatever they get. But don’t put it on the rest of us, for crying out loud.

“But you’re supposed to be open-minded and respect people for their differences!”, you say. Sure, I’m open-minded. I favor gay marriage, I think all religions are valid, blah, blah, blah. That doesn’t mean that I’m going to take advantage of some show poking fun at my religion by letting the world see that I am that stereotype. I also am disgusted when a couple gets in front of the camera and makes out for the shock value. Anyway you look at it.

There was a time when I had my nose pierced. I did it because I liked the look. I wasn’t trying to shock anyone. I had a simple little stud. I eventually took it out because I had a job that involved working with the public. I also have a tatoo. It’s quite cute and it’s located on my belly. Certain people have never seen my tatoo, because I don’t think they would care much for it. I also made sure it was in a place where it could be easily hidden. I’m still expressing myself but also being respectful of those around me. Is this wrong? Nope. I show off my tatoo when I feel it’s appropriate. There’s no shock value there. I’m too flippin’ old to try to shock people with my beliefs and ideals. Also, they’re too busy wondering if I’m mentally stable because of other things:.LOL.

I think that there’s a time and place for everything. I know that’s a tired cliche’, but it’s very true. And I think that anyone who wants to express themselves should do that, but also respect the decency of the general public. If they want to be taken seriously, that is. If they don’t care about being taken seriously then I don’t want them representing me or my beliefs. I think this kind of person is clownish and doesn’t really deserve to be taken seriously.

Also, someone mentioned the unshaven-obese-Earth-hugging-hippie-mama. Ha! That’s not me either. That, I think, is the other end of the spectrum. The love-light-and-lollipops crowd is too damned funny in my book. They follow the Rede to extremes and don’t get real life. These, I think, are mostly young ones and will grow out of that phase. They’ll learn about life and their views will change. Or they’ll come across a cynical bitch like me and have one helluva arguement when they start spouting off. My Gods aren’t very nice when they’re pissed off, so maybe my Gods will beat theirs. I don’t think, though, they do as much damage to our religion as the other. There are plenty of mainstream kids that feel the same way they do, about a lot of stuff. They grow out of it eventually (I hope anyway).

I don’t know why I even care about all of this. I haven’t even come out of the broom closet in my town. I would probably get tar-and-feathered. They’d certainly try to take my kids away. But I don’t like for anyone to make my religion look bad. And that’s why. Perception, I think, shapes laws and some of us have to fight that law when it threatens our way of life.

Here we go

Ok, back to my previous entry. Firstly, let me explain something. I know almost nothing about HTML, but I’m trying to learn. I guess I haven’t learned enough to be able to use the HTML editor to post my journal (or edit it either). I’m still working on that. But for now:it’s rich text editor for me!!!

So, that guy was talking about using violence against the government to get his point across and he had some people that agreed with him. I think that they were probably actually considering joining up. I’m naturally suspicious. And I’m especially suspicious of someone talking so openly about such a high crime. Well, I told the board this. This guy got upset with me. And said some pretty stupid things to me. Stuff about me not knowing what I’m talking about, I guess. And that it was not illegal to talk about committing violence against the U.S. I guess he didn’t bother to look at my link, because he never mentioned that part of what I said.

It amazes me that people think they can say just anything anytime they want. Sure the First Amendment guarantees us the right to voice our dissent with the government, it does not however allow us to threaten our governing body. Congress has enacted laws against such a thing. And the Patriot Act takes that even further. I don’t know who this guy is, but I’m pretty sure he’s looking to cause trouble. Maybe get more convictions or something. I don’t know exactly. I know that if he’s just the regular guy he professes to be he should probably keep his violent intentions to himself. He’s just asking for trouble right about now. The government is just waiting for subversives to rise up so they can slap them down. I guess he’s the one who’s naive. I’ll give him that. Or he’s just completely untrustworthy.

Anyway, I left the thread and have no plans to ever respond to cry-baby anymore. I don’t trust him and would rather not put myself on the radar. I wish that I could challenge this guy more openly, but it’s not worth it. He’s one of those people that sort to personal attacks to further their own cause. They don’t like people coming in and interrupting their personal rants.

I’m like that, sure. But when I’m on a discussion board I expect (and sometimes encourage) others to challenge me. And there are plenty of people that would probably be suspicious of my motives. I don’t take any of their arguements to heart:unless they get personal. That’s when I just step away. I feel like it’s not my place to disrupt actual, good discussion with petty, personal bickering. This guy is not above that. I’ve noticed a lot of people are not above that. This guy could have emailed me privately and we could still be arguing back and forth. That’d be more appropriate. I probably should have just kept my comments to myself, but I don’t think a lot of people would have thought of the possibility that there was a mole if someone wouldn’t have said it. So I said it. If anything then there are some more people that are suspicious of this guy and are going to speak a little more carefully where he is present. And maybe his little game will come to an abrupt halt.

Of course, if he wants to catch someone for treasonous activities he’ll probably find lots to do on that particular board:lol. But when they start busting in doors I doubt that they find anything very interesting. Most of the people on the internet are just blowhards who have balls only when someone can’t see them.

Insurrection

HIM: “Why don’t you actually read the thread instead of repeating your obvious lack of comprehension????”

ME: I have, thanks. How exactly am I repeating my “obvious lack of comprehension”?

HIM: “If the subject matter is to complex for you to understand without offering nothing more than your misunderstanding, perhaps it might be better to skip it?”

ME: Too complex? I understand completely. However, it seems that only those that agree with your thoughts should enter your discussions. Mea culpa.

HIM: “I have been talking openly and honestly about this subject in this forum (and others) for years, as well as in my community and in my recent run for elective office.”

ME: Good job. Did you win?

HIM:”That’s because you have misconceptions about the law in this regard, as well as an obvious lack of experience in the area of free speech.”

Misconceptions and misinformation are two different things. My inexperience is obvious? I find it strange that you find the need to try and belittle me because I’m a little suspicious of so much discussion on violence against the U.S. Gov’t.

The Constitution defines treason as “levying War against [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” Article 3.

U.S. Code as of: 01/06/03 Section 2385. Advocating overthrow of Government

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or
teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of
overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or
the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession
thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by
force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any
such government; or
Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any
such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates,
sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed
matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity,
desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any
government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts
to do so; or
Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society,
group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the
overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or
violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any
such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes
thereof -
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than
twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by
the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five
years next following his conviction.
If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in
this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned
not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for
employment by the United States or any department or agency
thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
As used in this section, the terms ‘’organizes” and
‘’organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of
persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new
units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes,
and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

ME:I didn’t mean to offend you, but you are obviously a little touchy. I apologize.

This is part of a conversation on a U.S. Politics board that was discussing using violence to overthrow
the current administration. I mentioned that I was suspect of someone who would do so in such a public
arena. My first thought was “DEA agents infiltrating suspected drug cartels” and so I mentioned
that it’s illegal to talk about overthrowing the U.S. gov’t with violence. This particular
gentleman took great offense to what I said and then went the personal route and argued that I
didn’t know what I was talking about. Excerpts are above.

I think that this guy isn’t very credible, because he simply responded to the above post with “No
need to apologize, you were wrong.” He completely ignored the facts that I laid out.

Ok, I think I’m confusing myself with this HTML code. I’m going to publish this and then finish what I
was saying in another entry.

Stuff in my email

Story in Tampa Newspaper

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????Think abo! ut it .All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn’t celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season’s Greetings. It’s not Christmas vacation, it’s Winter Break. Isn’t it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We’ve gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!
This is an editorial written by anAmerican citizen, published in aTampa newspaper He did quite a job; didn’t he? Read on, please!IMMIGRANTS,NOT AMERICANS,MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majorityof Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the “politically correct! ” crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. ! However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH , not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!”In God We Trust” is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don’t like Uncle Sam, then youshould seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. Weare happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we reallydon’t care how you did things where you came from! . This isOUR COUNTRY,our land, & our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen theright to express his opinion & we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom,
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.It is Time for America to Speak upIf you agree — pass this along;if you don’t agree — delete it! AMENI figure if we all keep passing this to our friends(and enemies) it will also, sooner or laterget back to the complainers, lets all try, please

This crap came to via a very respected family member. I was pretty sure that she was intelligent and recognized bullshit when she saw it. But I was wrong. And the worse part is that she sent this to me. I am the last person in the world anyone (who knows me) would send this to. Is she just that inconsiderate? No. I think she’s one of those people that think that everyone they have a pleasant conversation with must think like them politically. I don’t. Sorry about your luck, sister.

I think that this kind of attitude is what is getting us in trouble with each other anyway. I believe that I’ve already addressed the Christmas issue. Who cares if you wish them a “Merry Christmas”? Get over yourself. The only time you should really be required to say “Happy Holidays” is if you work with the public and you don’t know if you’re talking to a Buddhist monk or a Catholic. That just shows respect to the person with whom you’re speaking.

And learning English? Yeah, I think that everyone who comes here to live should know some passable English. Hell, I don’t think it should be called English anymore, just call what we speak “American” and get it over with. “English” means from England right? Well, if we don’t want these flippin’ foreigners speaking foreign languages then they shouldn’t be speakin’ English neither!! What the….?! I think that some people are just getting way too militant about it. It’s not like English is a dying language. People all over the world are required to learn it in school. What’s the problem? We’ve got a wave of immigrants from “brown” countries. That’s the problem. If they all came from Canada no one would even care.

I really get annoyed when the poor Christians spout that they’re oppressed and persecuted because they aren’t the only ones living in this world. And I think that, really, they’re the biggest cry-babies of them all. Don’t the Jews have more to say about persecution than the poor crying American Christians? They have a hard time no matter where they go. Hell, they can’t even form their own country without a bunch of people trying to boot them out of it. But the Christians living in this country have it sooo hard. Maybe the Jews would like Passover to be a federally recognized holiday–wait…is it? I don’t know much about it so if I’m wrong, sorry.

My point is that I feel like I should have to come out and tell everyone I meet “Before you spout off about Pagan agendas and oppression of Christian children, please know that I’m going to burn in hell because I’m Pagan.” Otherwise I’m going to constantly have to hear this barrage of how bad the Christians have it and God is going to do away with the non-believers polluting his chosen land. I have to be reminded on a regular basis that I’m going to burn if I don’t get saved and accept Jesus as the Savior. Huh? This is the kind of thing that non-Christians get when they live in the United States. They can’t just be accepted even though their beliefs differ. And the only way they get even the smallest little bit of respect is if they tell everyone that they are not Christian. Then, of course, the Christian prays for the other’s soul and on goes the uncomfortable small talk. ACK!!!

I do not force my religion or my beliefs down anyone’s throat. I generally don’t even talk about them outside of my home. I don’t understand how anyone can do that to someone else. Just because I’m white and live in a small town doesn’t automatically make me a member of the local {insert name here} Church. And then if a wear a pentacle and spout about my Goddess and reincarnation then I’ll be ostracized (because I live in a predominately white small town). Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

I’m starting to get to the point where I don’t care anymore about who knows my beliefs. I know that my family doesn’t care much about any other part of my life why would they care about my spiritual life? I think the only person who doesn’t send me Jesus literature is my sister and that’s because she knows I’m going straight to hell and there’s no helping me…LOL. I wish the rest of ‘em were like that.

Good tidings and Isis Bless!
