Since HRC officially lost the primaries and suspended her campaign, the PUMAs who seemed to have sense were saying that the only way Obama can win them back is if he picks Hillary as his running mate. NOT another woman, mind you, only Hillary.
Today I saw a post1 that made me choke. All this time she’s been saying only Hillary as VP would do. Then she gets offended because someone had the audacity to say this:
But the part I find so maddening about this turn of events is the reason given for the absence of a female contender. From the Times: If he does not choose Mrs. Clinton, several Democrats said, it would be difficult for him to name any woman — like Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, someone for whom he has had warm words. Both Clinton and Obama advisers said such a move could create a backlash among women who supported Mrs. Clinton.
The offended blogger writes:
The latest excuse for preserving this nation’s tradition of male rule is that any woman other than Hillary would surely cause a backlash among women voters.
That’s right. Women are asking for it:
C’mon now. First of all, the article that was cited goes on to say that it doesn’t seem realistic that PUMAs are really that angry. The author can’t believe that would be so mad as to forgo a female vice president just because HRC lost.
But the notion that voters mad at Obama because, being a young man, he swept past a 60-year-old woman who has paid some serious dues — that those voters then would be miffed by the nomination of a 50+-year-old-woman who has paid some serious dues simply makes no sense. It has no internal logic, which obviously would not disqualify it in the eyes of those who think that older women — and let’s face it, that’s what is meant by “disaffected Hillary voters” — lack the capacity for logical decision-making.
I don’t presume to know the average age of a PUMA or even if she is truly a Democrat. I will tell you that I’ve seen with my very own eyes that these folks have SCREAMED that they will accept nothing less that Hillary on the ticket.
An example:
If Obama chooses a woman other than Hillary not to mention one who didn’t support the woman candidate such as Sebelius (who by the way got her start with money from Emily’s list ) I woudl be highly insulted. It is just pandering to think they can buy us off just by putting a more compliant woman on the ballot. One who supports men over women any way.

Hey Pelosi stop telling us what to worry about. I trusted you and voted Democratic across the board in the last election and nothing has changed. I wouldn’t vote for Obama even if Hillary were to be chosen his VP. Thats Democratic blackmail. You had your chance and you blew it! I will now vote McCain, at least I know he will surround himself with seasoned politicians and not unknowns like Obama. I am really disappointed in your lack of leadership.
Petition where Clinton supporters are asking her not to accept a VP position. I won’t even link to the crazy PUMAs right now (though there are a couple of very good bloggers that do like to point and laugh. I’m not currently in the mood for more shit from crazies.)
I’m so sick of them, yet I can’t seem to keep my eyes off. What’s up with that?
At that blog I used to love. Before she turned PUMA. I’m still hoping… [↩]
Can’t win
Good grief, PUMAs annoy me.
