Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon have been together for 55 years. They have struggled together to get basic rights, such as the right to be at a bar without police harassment, and were originally married in 2004- until the California Supreme Court nullified their union. Yesterday, Del and Phyllis became “spouses for life” thanks to the same California Supreme Court ruling that California’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
Hopefully Del and Phyllis will never have to see their marriage nullified again. We can learn a lot from these beautiful ladies.
