DefendDrew.com Looking for Moolah

Have you heard about Drew Peterson?* He’s an ex-cop that is accused of offing his missing wife and maybe his first (dead) wife too.[source] Normally folks in this situation would have enough supporters that one would eventually set up a website looking for some cash. I guess for Drew Peterson couldn’t wait for his defense fund to get set up, so he went ahead and did it himself.

Wait! Don’t click that link!

Looks like the account for defenddrew.com is suspended. Ooops. Poor Drew didn’t even have money to get himself a server that could stand the “Drew Peterson” effect (aka “Digg/Slashdot”).

According to Cleveland Leader Drew wrote on his site:

Media Sensationalism is creating hardship for both former Bolingbrook, IL Police Sergeant Drew Peterson and his four dependent children.

Attention-grabbing headlines have forced both Drew and the children into the spotlight. For the cost of a few cups of your morning coffee, you can help to ensure that Drew can afford to support his ongoing legal defense, find his missing wife, and divert any remaining funds into a trust for his children. Our legal system is built upon the fundamental truth that you are innocent until proven guilty. The media has decided to sensationalize this story and the collateral damage is never-ending.

Drew and his children should not have to lose everything accumulated in thirty years of public service. Drew and his children risk losing their life savings, house, automobiles and may end up impoverished, all by simply defending himself against allegations.

What is up with these people writing as if they’re someone else? That really annoys me. What is really funny to me is that a lifelong cop says that our legal system is based on “innocent until proven guilty”. Give me a break. I watch 48 Hours so I know that cops think all they’re suspects are guilty from the get. C’mon now. Some even go so far as to help the evidence appear (or disappear as the case may be).

Anyway, Peterson is accused of offing his new wife and his other wife drowned in a bathtub with no water. Yes, you read that right. She drowned in a bathtub with no water. Of course, his colleagues did the investigation into her death initially. Now they’ve exhumed the dead Mrs. Peterson, hoping to find clues into the disappearance of the “could-be” dead Mrs. Peterson. I don’t know if the guy really did do it, but it’s interesting that this is coming to life. I can see an episode of “Without a Trace” being written as we speak.

I’m just curious how much money Peterson managed to accumulate before DefendDrew.com got zapped. You think that PayPal suspended his account. Mwahahaha! Wouldn’t that be rich? Honestly, I can’t even imagine that he would admit to setting up that fund himself. I certainly hope that if I’m accused of a crime they can’t prove I did that my friends will step up and at least start a Blog*Spot blog for me. I mean, shit, that’s what I would do. You don’t have to worry about bandwidth and it’s a free set up. Stick a couple of AdSense up there and BOOM! Good to go. Then when the other cops decide they can’t find enough evidence it can go from DefendDrew.blogspot.com to “MrsDrewHadItComing.blogspot.com”. Seems to be some kind of a trend, ya know?

I killed a spider once. So, I’m going to start a blog about that now. Excuse me while I get into my proper spider killing persona.

Sucks to be him with a name consisting of the last names of two sociopaths, huh?
