Yeah, I’m a slacker

I’ve been slacking. I know this. I suck. But, you know, things get in the way of other things and before you know it…

For instance, this weekend TheMan convinced me to go on a farm tour in another county. It was a self-guided tour of 9 different farms. So, we got our map and headed out. Of course, the map was worthless to us (ha!) and we got completely lost the first time. By the time we found where we were supposed to be it was almost time to end it. That just meant we had to go back. And, sure enough, we got lost a second time. This time was because our previous journey had taken us almost twenty miles north of our target and we were trying to save time. Um, yeah, good intentions and all that jazz.

The farms were kind of fun. They had petting zoos at almost all of them and little snack stands. The dairy farms actually featured homemade ice cream. I love that stuff. Yum! We saw an old cider mill and a goat farm and managed to get in some wine tasting. I really liked that part. At the winery there was a German band playing and Lil’lady really got a kick out of that. But the goat farm was Lil’lady’s favorite. Did you know people raise goats for their meat? Yeah, neither did I. At least I learned something.

Without further ado, some pictures.

[image removed] Lil’lady loved this little guy. He was only a few days old and was tied beside his cage. It was kind of sad. But, as you can see, he was a hit with my little one. Unfortunately she was pretty sure he was ours and wouldn’t let the other kids pet him. Oops.

Here we are in a goat pen. Lil’lady really, really likes goats. I don’t know why. She pretty much terrorized the four that were in this pen. They kept trying to get away and she kept trying to get some kisses and hugs.

Finally! One of the kids decided to give Lil’lady a little attention. I thought for sure she was going to get a nip in the nose, but nope. Looked like she made a friend. Well, that was until she tried to give her a hug. That was enough for this goat and off she ran. Poor Lil’lady thinks that all animals should sit still for the abuse just like Otie does. Speaking of…

Our dear labradoodle is getting HUGE. He’s like a flippin’ horse. No lie. I saw some miniature horses on the farm tour and I’m pretty sure he’s taller than them.

That’s it for me, folks. Until next time. . .
