It’s Been A Long Week

The weather turned bad this week. Can you believe it? Snow storms in February in Ohio, for crying out loud! It’s unheard of! Ok, ok. I’ll stop. I was just trying to capture the panic vibes that the weather folks are sending out. The worst part about this whole week was the fact that Lil’ Miss had three days off from school —and nothing to do but bother me. She doesn’t have work until tomorrow and she was bored out her mind. I am officially bald. Of course, TheMan had two days off due to weather, too. So, they were both home. With me. All day.

You see, I love my family. Really I do. But in moderation. Being stuck in the house with them for days on end is too much for me. They mess up my routine, make messes, and need help every five minutes. I was seriously crying for Calgon to come take me away. I cursed the gods that sent a snow/ice/rain storm to keep them trapped inside. I kicked the hell out of some blocks of ice in the yard, because I’m really not allowed to kick the hell out of my family.

Luckily, the weather has let up. First TheMan went back to work. Whew! That left me with my oh-my-god-I-am-soooo-bored teenager. It didn’t take me long to hook her up with some Sims and get her out of my hair. I did make the mistake of asking her to fold some laundry and heard “But, Mom, I have a snowday! Why can’t you let me have fun?” Oh, my bad! I didn’t realize being stuck inside because of ice and snow was supposed to be fun. Why doesn’t anyone ever tell me these things? Anyway, I could almost get back into my normal weekday routine with Baby. At least she was happy to have everyone home.

Then today I watched for school closings and saw none. Oh, thank the heavens, but the teenager has to go to class! I have been granted a reprieve! She said to me “I have school tomorrow” and I said to her “Thank God” to which she replied “Gee, thanks, Mom…Gawd.” I did a little happy dance as she left to go to school.

Does this make me a bad person? Oh, who the hell cares? I’m making some coffee, watching “Dora” and listening to no one yell for me because they can’t find something/are hungry/are bored out of their minds/need clean socks/the toilet is clogged. Today is a good day.

Update:

I was about to tell you that my Baby has finally pee’d in the potty. I was so proud. She sat on her little Pooh seat and I heard the tinkly sound of pee hitting water…Yay! Right? Of course, I had to share this amazingly wonderful milestone. No more diapers!

That’s when I stepped in it. A well-camouflaged wet spot in the carpet. That’s right. My darling made a puddle, similar to that which you would find a puppy making. Damn! Back to the square one.
