Oh my goodness, have you seen this? Let me give you a small taste:
LONDON (AP) — London will hold the NFL’s first regular-season game outside North America this year, the start of a campaign to take American football to a global audience.
Isn’t that funny? So, what are they going to call it? Is it still going to be “football”? Doesn’t Europe already have a football, you know, what we call soccer? According to the article Miami will be the “home team” (well, for now) and they’ll play the New York Giants. Are they going to play the National Anthem before the game? How would that go over with Londoners? I’m wondering if London will get their own team to play against one of ours. What would they be called? The London Queens? Ok, ok, that was so sad. I just couldn’t resist. (Secretly I was envisioning my favorite Brit, Lord Piggy, running down the field with a ball)
So, if London eventually gets their own team, how will that work with the draft? Will Oxford get a college team so that they can find players eligible? They’d have to have a bowl game (because pretty much every college team has their own bowl game nowadays). Would they call it…wait for it… The Tea Bowl? Good gods, there’s something really wrong with me right now. Sorry.[1]
Well, it will certainly be interesting to watch this develop.
[1] No, I’m not stereotyping. At least not in a negative way. I just think it’s funny that so many British are against us right now and we’re taking our version over there. Oh, and I’m poking fun at Piggy, just cuz I like to.
