Censure Bush?

Sen.Russ Feingold would like to smack G.W.’s knuckles with a kind-of-hard ruler.[1] Since his hands are tied with getting any real justice, he wants to censure the prez for his crimes against the American people.

“The president has broken the law and, in some way, he must be held accountable,” Sen. Russ Feingold (news, bio, voting record), D-Wis., told The Associated Press in an interview.

A censure resolution, which simply would scold the president, has been used just once in U.S. history – against Andrew Jackson in 1834.

Of course, that makes Sen. Feingold a bin Laden ally and enemy of the U.S. Anyone who even thinks his highness did wrong should be sent straight to Gitmo. Or so thinks Bill Frist, one of Bush’s favorite hemmoroids.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., called the proposal “a crazy political move” that would weaken the U.S. during wartime.**

Frist, appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” said that he hoped al-Qaida and other enemies of the U.S. were not listening to the infighting.

“The signal that it sends, that there is in any way a lack of support for our commander in chief who is leading us with a bold vision in a way that is making our homeland safer, is wrong,” Frist said.

Sen. John Warner, R-Va., said on CNN’s “Late Edition” that Feingold’s announcement on a Sunday talk show was “political grandstanding. And it tends to weaken our president.”

Wow! Talk about “Love Day” cards[2] landing on the president’s desk when he needs them most. They don’t seem to see that the president is already weak and that people are sick of him. As for the infighting…where has Frist been all of these long months? I mean, he really should get his head out of G.W’s ass long enough to check out what’s going on in the real world. There is no unity in this country anymore. Our enemies know this. Not only that, but our allies see it and laugh at us. Our president and half of Congress are criminals and the citizens of this country can do nothing about it. The Bushbots are to blame for this fiasco. They should just put the prez on the altar and sacrifice him for their party, for the benefit of the country.

I don’t think he’ll be censured, either. I don’t think that there are any spines left in Washington. I think that it’s a good political move on Feingold’s part (unlike Hillary and her flag burning legislation…ugh) because his supporters are going to see that he tried to do something. Problem is that it’s too little too late, Russ. Should’ve stepped up to the plate a long time ago.

[1] I realize that this is old news (from yesterday!! ack!) but you’ll notice that I didn’t post this weekend and so am going to go back in time for some material
