ONN. Ohio News Now: Taft signs voter ID, other election changes into law

Here we have it. Now we must present proper identification to be able to vote. And vote with an electronic machine, even. Lovely. So now they’ll know who we are and who we voted for. Good if your guy gets chosen. Not so good if you’re against Blackwell, hmm? I’m pretty positive that Blackwell will be guaranteed victory now and I, unfortunately, will be leaving Ohio when that happens. I’ll be off to somewhere most certainly blue.

I’m hoping and praying that some young liberals find this too much for their tastes and run to the courthouse to fight this law. I can’t imagine how that could stand up in court. Is it even Constitutional? I see that the vote was right along party lines, the Repubs saying how it will make our voting experience safer, less complicated, and give us all a wonderful sense of security and accomplishment. Bullshit. I hope there is someone in this state that has what it takes to take this one all the way to the Supreme Court….though I doubt it will get very far with the conservative justices who think that the government should be limited, but so should the rights of liberals.

I’m sorry but this is just a sad sad day for Ohio. And I certainly pray that no other states follow our very poor example. I’ll be following this to see if this law is struck down (as it should be).

They’ll have complete control now, especially since it’s now illegal to challenge state or national vote counts. Way to go, Ohio!
