I’m getting overtired lately and have drained myself because of what’s going on in the government (See Gray Does Matter). And so I haven’t had much energy to come here recently. Hopefully I’ll find more time to work on my site. As it is I just haven’t felt like it. Good thing no one’s coming here!
I haven’t been visiting any other Pagan sites, either. I’m just sick of the same old crap being regurgitated over and over. Recently (on one of my mailing lists) someone was complaining because she was offended that someone else made fun of folks on AOL. I honestly don’t know why AOL is laughable (obviously it is to some people) but I am really baffled that someone would take such enormous offense because they happen to be on AOL. They equate it with someone not knowing someone is Polish and making Polish jokes. Being an AOL subscriber gives you some kind of ethnicity? Or some kind of protected status? I would have just brushed it off and ignored the poster. But this Pagan decided she was going to let anyone know that she is on AOL, she is proud, and damned anyone who makes fun of her (or “stereotypes AOL users” LOL) for being on AOL.
This is exactly the kind of thing that gets on my damned nerves. This person is supposed to be 40 years old and an elder in her community. But she picks petty things to be sensitive about. It’s called “pick your battles”! I guess there’s not enough persecution of the Pagan soul going on for her. Guess she has to add to that.
Personally, I’m on Verizon DSL (and only pay $14.95) a month. There’s no way I’d pay almost $30 for dial-up. But that’s just me and I don’t count. I wouldn’t, though, be overly offended if you called me something like “those Verizon people” or said “Verizon customers suck”. I don’t care. I’d just laugh because there are so many more reasons not to like me (and also to pigeon hole me). I think that this “Elder” puts too much importance on herself in this little group and should, herself, stop whining. It’s incredibly unbecoming.
