So, I got another one of those emails about how persecuted Christians are because no one says “Merry Christmas” anymore. This time it came from my sister. Good flippin’ Grief. I thought I went over this whole issue with my entire family. Guess it didn’t sink in. How would they like it if I just went ahead and said “Isis bless you” everytime I ended a conversation? Hee, hee, maybe I should do that just to annoy people. Isis is, afterall, a trickster Goddess and so may even find that funny.
I am so sick of Christians saying that they’re not allowed to be Christian anymore- and then blaming the immigrants (Catholic majority)for their rights to their holiday being taken away. Boo hoo. Cry me a flippin’ river. Christians are the only ones who get their religious holidays recognized as federal holidays. The mail doesn’t run on Christmas or Good Friday, but it sure does on say:well, I guess I should probably look up some names of other religious holidays:my bad. My point is that they need to quit shoving their garbage down my throat. If they’re such good Christians then they should be concerned for the souls of the business owners that operate on Sundays- except for the restaurants where the hogs congregate after the service. They should follow their own laws every single day of the year, and not just when it’s convienent for them to cry foul.
I usually say “Merry Christmas” around my town because I don’t really have to worry about anyone not being Christian. When I was living in another town I tried not offend the Jews and Pagans. I said “Happy Holidays”, I was not ashamed. I wasn’t doing it to be PC (because Gods know that I don’t care about that either), I was doing it because this time of year is not just about Christmas to everybody.
I hate that my family is being stupid. My mother told me that I need to start attending the local Catholic Church and going to bible study so that I can meet some good friends. Funny, my mother hasn’t stepped into a church since I was probably 6 years old (that includes for weddings and funerals). She’s the one that raised me to question organized religion. Suddenly she has a stroke and I need to be baptized:.LOL. The funny part is that I’ve come out of my broom closet to my immediate family (not my in-laws). Guess they’re worried about my soul now.
I’ve got to tell you that I’m about up to my eyeballs with family members trying to get me into church. I’m going to start really practicing-hard core- my religion and then what are they going to do. Maybe I’ll even change my girls’ names to reflect my new hard-core faith. Oh, that would be delicious. I’ve honestly never seen such a bunch of hypocrites. My family should just stay away from religious discussions. None of them attend any church and none of their children have been baptized or have attended church regularly (since they were born). And yet, I say I believe in reincarnation, karma, and multiple Gods and they say “Help yourself now before you burn in hell!”
I will not say “Merry Christmas” too my children this year. I will not pretend to be something I’m not by attending church with my MIL on Christmas Eve this year. And I will no longer allow my own beliefs to be bullied away. They can all kiss my ass.
Merry, huh?
