Daily Kos :: Political Analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation.

I’m linking to another blog. I found it incredibly interesting. Here’s a quote of a quote:

Four years ago, Alan Greenspan urged Congress to cut taxes, asserting that the federal government was in imminent danger of paying off too much debt. On Wednesday the Fed chairman warned Congress of the opposite fiscal danger: he asserted that there would be large budget deficits for the foreseeable future, leading to an unsustainable rise in federal debt. But he counseled against reversing the tax cuts, calling instead for cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Does anyone still take Mr. Greenspan’s pose as a nonpartisan font of wisdom seriously? When Mr. Greenspan made his contorted argument for tax cuts back in 2001, his reputation made it hard for many observers to admit the obvious: he was mainly looking for some way to do the Bush administration a political favor. But there’s no reason to be taken in by his equally weak, contorted argument against reversing those cuts today.

I’ve had my doubts about Greenspan for a long time now. I can’t even begin to wonder what his agenda is, but it’s clearly Republican based. Perhaps he’s getting paid by the Bush administration too? I mean, why should they stop at journalists? Allen Greenspan is a big fish and if he’s on board with them then they can get their financial plans pushed through. Why, when there’s so much evidence against it, is he pushing so hard for Social Security privatization? Why does he support more tax cuts when the deficit is growing to gargantuan proportions?

There is very little buzz about Greenspan’s agenda. But it is there. And it’s growing louder. Hopefully he won’t make it until June. But I think he will. It’s not going to be such an easy road for him anymore. People are getting to know him. I don’t think he wants anyone to know him.

How much does it cost, Mr. Greenspan, to get your backing?
